Introduction to Human Performance Technology (HPT) explores the fundamentals of HPT examining the models, business perspectives, analysis processes, interventions, evaluation methods and measurement tools. Included is a practical approach to assess the variables of human behavior and its impact in implementing HPT initiatives. In this first course, participants develop a project plan based on a business model that utilizes a systemic and systematic approach to data collection.

Prerequisite for this course is Intro to HPT. The focus of HPT Analysis and Interventions is familiarity with the tools and techniques used to conduct various types of performance analysis. The course examines a range of interventions that can be used to close performance gaps and evaluate when and how to use them. Introduced is a business model that expands business acumen. The course culminates with a project plan utilizing HPT models, methods and tools designed for performance improvement. Deliverables include collection of data, data analysis, identification of the performance gap(s) and intervention design.

Prerequisites for this course include Intro to HPT and HPT Analysis and Interventions. This course expands the role of measurement and evaluation in the workplace; develops strategies for departments/organizations to gain HPT advantage and acceptance; and examines the role of leaders in HPT projects. Completion of the HPT initiative introduced in earlier classes resolves performance gaps applying methodologies such as ROI, determining financial impact, and measuring the success of the HPT initiative. Furthermore, the course examines the critical strategies for helping an organization move to HPT acceptance.
